Gokkola Art

Gokkola art can be described as an art unique to Sri Lanka. This is called kapruka and the gobe or dalla gokkola of the coconut tree. Gokkola designs are used for all good deeds. Gokkola carvings are used for decoration in local rituals.This design is used in peace rituals of all up country, low country, and Sabaragamuwa traditions.

                            Small carvings create very beautiful thoran. Must have the ability as well as the patience to cut beautiful carvings on a small gokkol. These creations are our Sri Lankan cultural heritage.
